People in the area of Eemsdelta can tune in to their local broadcaster daily for news and the most popular hits. Omroep Eemsdelta had to move, now making their radio programs from a new studio.
The move was the perfect moment to upgrade their studio with new equipment. The public broadcaster has had more than 20 years of experience with Triple Audio, making us their preferred partner to get the job done. Thus, they started collaborating, aiming to full fill all of the broadcaster's wishes.
Dirk van Nieuwpoort, chairman of Omroep Eemsdelta, visited Triple Audio along with three technicians to get an idea of what their future studio could look like. Our engineers showed the team all the possibilities based on their wishes. Suggestions were made, completely in line with the broadcaster's vision. Dirk: ''On our way back we knew; this is it!''.
One of the choices made for the new studio is the Axia iQx broadcast mixer that supports Livewire+/AES67, Audio over IP (AoIP). This is a digital system that makes on-air sessions even easier. The Axia iQx is a broadcast mixer and engine in one. Only the mixer is required in the studio and it offers endless AoIP possibilities. Technicians benefit from this AoIP system as well. With the advent of digital audio, technicians can configure and troubleshoot from behind their computers rather than having to crawl on the floor with a bunch of cables.
Telos VXs was also chosen for the new studio. Telos VXs is a Voice over IP (VoIP) talkshow system that runs virtually in a Docker container. Because the system runs virtually, it is easily scalable. Need extra phone lines? By purchasing extra licenses, you can easily expand your number of lines without having to buy new equipment. Saves in space and costs! SmartControl, Triple Audio's own product, has also been installed. With it's easy-to-use interface, smart integrations have been made between the public broadcaster's new equipment. With SmartControl, real-time actions can be performed easily, which makes it super useful for swift adjustments during broadcast.
Lastly, for this project we also delivered the signaling, microphones, headphone amplifiers and windscreens. The Angry Audio headphone amplifiers located near every microphone make sure that every host or guest can adjust the volume of their own headphones. The windscreens with Omroep Eemsdelta branding are the perfect final touch for the studio (as seen above).
The nicest thing about the new studio? That is, according to Dirk, how easy it has become to transition between non-stop and live. Previously, it required many steps and if anything went wrong, it would cause radio silence.
''With the press of a button, we can now seamlessly switch from live to non-stop programming and vice versa, without any issues.''
The end result is better than expected. Over 100 people visited the studio's grand opening and since then three new volunteers have applied.
Omroep Eemsdelta mobilized its own employees to install the new equipment, Triple Audio was the supplier in this project and provided technical support where needed. Dirk looks back on this project as a successful collaboration: ''The support by Triple Audio during this project was perfect, every question was answered appropriately.''
