The world of audio production is all about precision, efficiency and - let's not forget - an inspiring working environment. That last part drove Earforce, a leading audio branding company, to team up with Triple Audio to give their studio in Kortenhoef a serious upgrade. The result? A custom-made recording desk that not only meets customer requirements but also contributes to a comfortable and hybrid working environment.
Since 2000, Earforce has been working with sound in creative and innovative ways. The company specialises in audio post-production for advertising, film, (online) video and sonic branding. They help brands to stand out through sound - from voice-overs and sound effects, to tailored compositions, podcasts and commercials for major brands such as Unox, DubbelFriss and Centraal Beheer. Founders Reinder and Maarit van Zalk started the company out of their passion for music and sound. They now operate an extensive studio in Amsterdam, where they, along with a talented team, produce amazing work. Reinder uses the studio in Kortenhoef as a home office to create his compositions, while Maarit runs the business side of the company. After years of working in a sub-optimal workspace, Reinder decided it was time for a totally revamped studio to facilitate hybrid working.
The old workspace no longer met Reinder's needs, especially in terms of ergonomics and speed. 'I wanted a desk where I could work both standing and sitting down, without having to deal with cables', says Reinder. Triple Audio was called in to realise the ideal design - a custom-made recording desk that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also practical and efficient. The result is an electrically height-adjustable desk with built-in racks for equipment. This solution fits perfectly into the hybrid working environment that Reinder had in mind. By equipping the desk with multiple Sonifex RB-SS10's for switching between audio-effect equipment, Reinder now has everything at his fingertips wothout wasting time re-routing cables himself.
One of the biggest challenges in designing the desk was cable management. With so much analogue equipment that is often prone to interference, everything needed to be perfectly organized. Triple Audio ensures that specific cable paths were built in to neatly conceal the cables, ensuring not only a professional look, but also a functional workspace without distractions. In therms of ergonomics, Reinder's new workspace is up to snuff. Reinder often works long hours in the studio, and the ability to work standing up is essential to prevent the discomfort of prolonged sitting. Therefore, a sit-stand desk with a sturdy drawer in whitch the keyboard can be stored was chosen.

'This is exactly what I wanted!'
To optimise the atmosphere in the studio, a Philips HUE LED strip was integrated into the design. The lighting can be adjusted to any colour, allowing Reinder to adjust the working environment to his linking - from bright white light for concentration to muted tones for more creativity. In addition to the custom desk, an additional floor rack has been placed for equipment that does not require direct control. This creates a clean and tidy look, while allowing all equipment to be operated efficiently through a high- quality routing system for Pro Tools and other effects equipment.
The succes of this project lies not only in the beautiful end result, but also in the cooperation between Earforce and Triple Audio. Reinder particularly appreciates the way Triple Audio supported him troughout the process: 'You really have a safety net of expertise which helps you make choises and come up with solutions. They don't just think about the big picture, but ensure that all the details are just right.'
The result is a custom-made workstation that does exactly what it is supposed to do: it facilitates hybrid (digital/analog) working, increases speed and efficiency, and provides an ergonomically sound and pleasant working environment. Reinder is more than satisfied: 'It is exactly what I wanted - everything is made in such a way that you can start using it without needing a manual. It works exactly as I wanted it to be, and it looks great.'
